A new Deepening: Sit down, stand up and show up

foto-leadershipA new year, a fresh start! A perfect moment for some reflection. Because our fast changing world requests a different kind of leader. Because in this vuca world circumstances change in a split second and leaders need to work with that. Because the challenges we face are sometimes to big to have an answer to. Because a linear approach doesn’t suit an exponential world anymore. That is why we need leaders who do things differently. Who don’t operate from ratio, but from their intuition and feeling. Who are able to embrace the ‘not knowing’. And we will only be able to this when we first know how to lead ourselves personally. That is why I invite you to have a closer look and what better moment to do so in the silence of the winter?

This Deepening is about Transformational Presence, based on the work of Alan Seale. In three nights you’ll learn to use certain instruments to expand your awareness, expand your knowledge of Transformational Presence and widen your horizon in your personal life and the role you play in that. Of course we can’t all start a restaurant at the beach,  but if you dare to look further to what life has in store for you, your personal journey can start!

Deepening Transformational Presence
Workshop 1: Sit down
The universe offers us ongoing possibilities to learn in life. Everyday again. How can you read those signals? Do you believe in coincidence? What would be an easier way to make decisions?

Workshop 2: Stand up
Do you fit in a box? In which box do you spend most of your days? Do you ever ask yourself why you are here? What does it mean to be alive?

Workshop 3: Show up
Have you ever met yourself? Your most successful self? Your most peaceful self? Who are you in your greatest strength? What can be one step in the direction of your greatest happiness?

Participating in the Series costs 150 euros (incl. VAT), participating in one single workshop 75 euros (incl. VAT). The Deepening starts on Tuesday 31st of January, with following evenings on the 7th and the 14th of February in Eemnes from 20.00 to 22.00 hrs. Let me know if you’d like to join us via judy@madepublic.nl

Who’s at the table? – The launch video

On the 25th of September the launch of ‘Who’s at the table’, a series of interviews with inspiring leaders and entrepreneurs by The Round Table of Life, took place. We’ve had a wonderful afternoon, starting with lunch at Restaurant Fleurie and an interview with Alan Seale at the 17th century church in the heart of Bloemendaal. If you weren’t able to join us, but are interested in the main part of the interview, you can find it here. A big thank you to everyone who joined and especially to Guy Kerstens who created these beautiful videos!

The next WATT is coming Wednesday November 23rd where I will be interviewing Josine Peters, General Manager of The School of Life on Culture within organisations. Let me know if you would like to join us!

Josine Peters, Managing Director The School of Life

theschooloflifelogo2Already since I had a burn out at the age of 22, I wondered what the influence of culture is on employees. And of course, it is the other way around, employees together create culture. And, as we know now, culture loves strategy for breakfast, so it is time to have a closer look.

That’s why on Wednesday the 23nd of November, The Round Table of Life offers you Who’s at the Table with Josine Peters, Managing Director of The School of Life in Amsterdam. In her former job Josine was Head of Culture at AkzoNobel, responsible for all global programs that make people people feel good at working there and thus more productive. She left this job one year ago and now reflects with me on her choices, her decision making and most of all, how culture has always been a big passion. Starting her career at Hill & Knowlton after university, she already worked on Internal Communications, expanding the importance of culture within organisations. The School of Life offers her a complete new way of exploring other possibilities within cultures and what it does to your organisation. Josine will offer a workshop on Culture as of January within the program of The School of Life as well and will share the most important insights of her workshop with us.

Sit down, Stand up, Show up

le-petit-princeOn September 25th the launch of ‘Who’s at the table’ took place. The first of a series of interviews with inspiring leaders and entrepreneurs at The Round Table of Life. The kick-off took place with Alan Seale, talking about our transforming world and what this is asking from all of us. Based on this interview, I have created a three evenings training, in which you can get more acquainted with Transformational Presence work: The Deepening.

In three sessions you’ll learn to use certain instruments to expand your awareness, expanding your knowledge of Transformational Presence and widening your horizon in your personal life and the role you play in that. Of course we can’t all start a restaurant at the beach,  but if you dare to look further to what life has in store for you, your personal journey can start!

Who’s at the table? Erich & Leo Kaniok!

Zintenz_Erich & LeoI have been using quite a lot of metaphors in my latest blogs, all coming from Zintenz. And therefore I am proud to present my new guests at The Round Table of Life on October 11th during the second workshop Who’s at the table? Erich and Leo Kaniok!

What to expect?
This evening will contain beautiful stories, told by Zintenz’ owner Leo and his father Erich. Their beautiful stories full of metaphors and wisdom create a field of encounter for everybody. Stories not written to educate, but to wake people up. In between the words, in their tone, their atmosphere is a hidden insight. Insights that can hardly be told in spoken words. While reading and listening it might happen that, almost unexpected, one finds ‘learning without words’, an encounter or awakening, even experiences a true change.

Wisdom doesn’t educate, but breaks open patterns, convictions and ideas of how things ‘should be’. Wisdom makes a human being sensitive for a world unexplainable in words. Our own life is a story, not a philosophy, no abstraction of some kind. Stories have a lot in common with situations in our own lives and gives us a bit of taste of the wisdom that, often without recognition, is told by our own lives. That might just be where the power of stories is hidden.

And of course this gives reason for a wonderful metaphor about life:

An apprentice once asked his master:

“You always tell us stories, but never tell what they really mean.”
The master answered: “What would you think, if you buy fruit at the market and the salesman eats the fruit in front of your eyes and offers you its’ skin?”

We’d love to meet you at the 11th of October!

An introduction to Transformational Presence
A powerful conscious living and leadership movement is now emerging in many parts of the world. It’s a movement built on the conviction that, in any initiative, all stakeholders can be served, all people and the environment can be honored and respected, and economic models can serve something greater than our individual selves.

Within this movement, there is also widespread agreement that, in order to lead the world forward in the most effective, impactful, and transformative ways, new skills and tools, as well as broader capacities for awareness and perception, will be required. These new skills and capacities require us to stretch far beyond the familiar, analytical, knowledge-based approaches found in traditional learning environments into more creative, discovery-based, transformational approaches.

Going forward, we need leaders who know how to be present with “what is” – to feel, sense, and listen to the energy and discover what wants to happen next. We need leaders who can be comfortable in not knowing the answers – and maybe not even knowing yet which questions to ask. We need curious, imaginative leaders who are willing to explore without knowing what they will find, yet trust that clues for next steps will appear. And leaders who, when they sense these next steps, are not afraid to take action.

We need leaders who are “at home in their own skin” – who are comfortable with who they are, and who fully embrace their own talents, skills, and gifts. At the same time, they thrive on continued learning through their leadership experience. They constantly seek to broaden their horizons of understanding and awareness. As they continue to learn and grow, they also create the best possible conditions for others to thrive and develop to their greatest potential – to experience their own breakthroughs in understanding, awareness, perception, and action.

We need leaders who recognize that everything is connected to everything else – who embody the understanding that the world is built on a matrix of relationships, and that everything that happens is a part of a larger flow. Nothing exists in isolation. Everything exists within a larger context. And at the most fundamental level, everything is energy in motion. When we approach circumstances, situations, visions, and dreams as energy, forward movement is greatly accelerated.

This is the leadership that will transform our world. And this is what Transformational Presence is all about.

I hope to see you on Sunday September 25th!
